AGT · 03 /AGT.03.PARA · VOICE In Development · Private Beta Vol. III · Issue 02 · Spring 2026

Paralegal, a voice that knows the file.

Not a chatbox. A voice agent that listens, reads the matter, drafts on the fly, and reads every outbound action back to you for verbal approval before anything leaves the firm.

§ A How it works · four turns

Four turns from silence to a working session.

The agent is keyed to a matter, not a thread. Once Outlook and Calendar are linked and a matter is selected, the workspace is loaded and the floor is yours.

Step 01i
Link Outlook and Calendar.
Microsoft Graph OAuth, read-only by default. The agent triages incoming mail and surfaces what is on fire before you say a word.
Microsoft Graph · Read · No outbound
Step 02ii
Pick the active matter.
From your matter library. The agent loads vault context, prior communications, and any open documents (drafts, redlines, prior reviews).
Vault · Matters · Prior reviews
Step 03iii
Speak.
Ask questions, dictate edits, run a quick-scan review, fetch CourtListener authority, or queue a tabular review on a stack of NDAs. Findings surface as you go.
Live transcript · Inline tool runs
Step 04iv
Approve outbound by voice.
Every email, calendar invite, or document save is read back in full. Speak "approve" or "edit" before anything leaves the firm. Nothing fires without that turn.

§ C Live demonstration · loop

"What needs my attention this morning?"

A loop of a real session. In-house counsel, Tuesday 8:42am, opening the day with the Paralegal. Triaged inbox in roughly nine seconds.

§ D Under the hood

Grounded, asynchronous, and on the record.

Three pieces sit behind the voice. Retrieval is matter-bound, long-running tools are async, and every turn is logged.

¶ 01 · Retrieval

Bound to the matter, not the model.

Vector + lexical retrieval runs only against the active matter's vault. Cross-matter access is gated behind explicit voice command and logged. The agent never reads files that do not belong to this client.

Hybrid retrievalPer-matter index
¶ 02 · Async tools

Long jobs fork, the conversation continues.

A tabular review on eight NDAs or a citation sweep across a brief does not block the floor. The agent acknowledges, forks the job, and pings back inline when each cell or check lands. You keep talking.

Job queueInline pings · status cards
¶ 03 · Audit

Every turn is a record.

Voice turns (text + audio waveform), tool calls (inputs, outputs, timing), and approvals (verbal phrase, timestamp, confidence score) are written to an immutable log scoped to the matter. Export as PDF in one click.
